Subject: IP/Router problem!
Is there anyone around at the moment that would be able to help sort out my router? While trying to open a port to allow remote access viewing of my IP camera, the router has now somehow enabled remote access of my router’s admin page and all settings via my static IP, and I can’t find how to disable access to it!
I’m using an Edimax AR-7286WnA modem/router.

Have you tried turning it off, then counting slowly to 15 before turning it back on?

What steps did you take to open your port?

Well I added an option on the Advanced Setup -> Routing page, but when it didn’t seem to allow me to remotely access anything, I deleted the option.
I’ve gone through every option and page that I’ve changed and put it back to how it was, but I’m still able to access the router’s admin page from the static IP address.

Tried that, and the modem’s own System Restart option.

Can you confirm that this is your manual:
AR-7286WnA / AR-7286WnB User Manual

Then sorry, but I can’t be of any further assistance.

On my Status page, it says in the WAN section that NAT is enabled.

- On my Status page, it says in the WAN section that NAT is enabled.
From my quick reading of it, it seems to say that “NAT makes your whole inside network appear as a single machine to the outside world” and to use it you should also enable DMZ because “Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) is used to provide Internet services without sacrificing unauthorized access to its local private network”

Ok, so I’ve just enabled the DMZ and set it to a different IP address as the host but it’s still accessing my modem’s router admin page when I go to the static IP address in my browser.

Are you accessing your static IP address on the same network as your modem? Or are you accessing it via another network?

Trying from both. I’ve got a browser window open on my laptop (same wireless network) and on my phone’s browser which is using mobile data on a different network.

I haven’t tried a factory reset because it’s a bitch to set it all up again, and I’m not sure where my login details are from the ISP to access the web. I’ve just tried to disable remote access now but not having any luck with it.

Ugh…. So I’ve just managed to disable Web access to the admin settings, which is good. But the not good part, is it’s disabled the entire access to the admin settings via any web browser, local or remote.
Looks like I am going to have to go find the email with the login details…
And therefore, thus ends the issue. Thanks Furious for your help :)

Nah it’s all good, it’s pretty much working just as it was before I started screwing with the settings :)
I reset the settings using the button on the router/modem and it kept the login details for my ISP, so I only had to set the name of the network and the WEP access key.

Is that for the camera?
