Hi folks, I’ve just made a update to the internals of the forum. It’s now running on version of Django that’s not 5 years old.

Let me know if you find anything that’s not working.

It looks like some images are no linger displayed. This post by roughbarked

Thank you. Logging back in is no big deal. Often have to do it anyway. Something with the two computers in this house, I think. Still no big deal.

The right click one is different. Drag & drop is just that. Get hold of the object with the left button. Keep hold of it by keeping the button depressed. Move the pointer to where you want it to go & drop it by releasing the button.

You can do the drop and drag inside of Word to move pics around..

To drag and drop, just click on the thumbnail, holding down left mouse button all the while. Move it from its window into the forum window and dumb it in the submit box.

Wait until the url appears in the box, then submit.

change the image to jpeg from tiff & it gets 100x smaller.

open the pic in paint and resize. save as a different pic so you still have the original size.

Just open the folder it’s in, in a smaller window on top of the forum window. Drag and drop as described.

Have you got an updated link for the hyperforums? The only way I can see anything is using bookmarked threads. The usual that shows me chat only gives me a blank page.

Yes that works. Sometimes D&D won’t work in some places but will always work from the desktop.

I’ve also added new code that automatically resizes and compresses images before uploading them. You should be able to drop in 10MB files straight from your camera now.

It worked that time. It seems my mouse movements were too fast for the computer to react effectively. If I take my time I can make it work. Still – much much much quicker than uploading to photobucket etc.

It worked that time. It seems my mouse movements were too fast for the computer to react effectively. If I take my time I can make it work. Still – much much much quicker than uploading to photobucket etc.

The photo I just posted was from my android tablet. I was sitting at the kitchen table and took a photo of that ceramic platter which is currently full of fossils, bones and rock samples. Oh, and a cast iron lion doover. So, I took a photo with the tablet and posted it directly to the forum :D

Search engines can still find images like that, because they’re linked from pages that the search engine has already found. The spiders don’t operate by guessing URLs, they just follow links.

I use a normal PC & my fingers “know” where the submit button is. Sadly that position is now occupied by the upload button.
