Can someone who can read music properly please help me to help Little Speedy with his music performance for school?

He has been given this music and has already performed it for his assessment, but all students will have a second chance to perform the piece if they want to. Despite being proud of his first attempt, he says he can play it better.

Now, when he played on our piano what he claims* he played at school, it is clear that he has added many awesome extras (yes, he watched the Piano Man YouTube clips). It sounds impressive, but he’s not actually playing the music on the sheet.

I’m OK with reading the actual notes, but have no idea how to read the entire piece. There’s some repeat thing going on, I’m sure of it, but it makes no sense. What about that little short bit with 3 bars on the second staff and what are all those letters right at the top doing there?

* there is a slight possibility that Little Speedy, our family’s practical joker, is geeing mum up.

The letters above the staves are for guitar, and you can ignore them if it’s being played on the piano. As for the repeats, the dots at the end of the first staff indicate that the performer should go back to the start of the piece and play again. The first time it’s played, the last three bars at the end of the first staff should be played (that’s the “1” above the 6th bar), but the second time through, the three bars at the start of the second staff should be played (the “2” above the first bar on the second staff.)

Thanks for that. Makes much more sense now.
