Hello.

I keep on getting locked out for long periods of time. Sometimes it is a few hours. Sometimes 12 or more hours.

When I reload the page that won’t load it immediately goes back to this page will not load. When it will go back it does a TLS handshake and succeeds. I don’t know what this means.

Turning off or on my firewall seems to make no difference.

Does it have anything to do with my satellite connection?

I used to be able to sneak in sometimes on https://45.56.75.96/forums/holiday/
But this is now disallowed.

Sounds like it could be a DNS issue.

Have you looked at your ISP’s DNS and set your router to use it?

If not look at your ISP’s help page on Manually Setting DNS Server, or DNS server, it will be something like that.

Why does it work 90% of the time?

Another thing to try is ccleaner

Do you use ccleaner? its a program that cleans your computer of junk.

you can set it to clean your web browsers cache and cookies etc

If not, here is a link

I just went same, from a very old IE, works beautiful, even with all security features bolted down hard. Auto-refresh turned off too, I do it manual.

I dont know, but if two browsers show the same symptoms, then it looks like a router/modem issue

I had an issue with a particular website not working at some times and then working at others and initially I got around it by deleting caches and things and a particular (index?) file but it persisted and then turned out it was independent of the browser as other browser had the same issue. It turns out other devices on the same network had the same issue too and it was resolved by DNS

Cleaning cookies seem to make no difference either.

It isn’t a new problem. It has been going on for years. But the other link used to get me in most of the time when the official link didn’t.
It is over two laptops and one desk top.

I’ve upgraded the router and modem.

When I experienced this, it was definitely resolved by manually setting DNS

I had a big upgrade late last year. I have new dish, modem, router. It goes faster. It still falls over at the forum. Takes 30 mins to 12 hours to come back.

I hate to be the one to say this, but sometimes this forum acts dead because it hopes we’ll all go away 😁

If all your equipment has been replaced and you’re still having problems, it sounds like there’s something very wrong with your ISP’s DNS servers. Do all other websites work fine when you can’t get to the forum?

^ This is a good thing to try.

Or, if you really don’t care about anything other than the forum being accessible, you can bypass DNS entirely by adding an entry to your hosts file. Your computer reads this file before it talks to any DNS server.

I find it difficult to believe that you had to wait nearly 10 hours for the help desk on this forum to get back to you. I’d think seriously about putting a complaint into the ombudsman.

it is only the forum that has the glitch.

I tried to do this but it told me I don’t have permission to save in this area. I am doing something wrong.

The trick is to “Right-click Notepad and select Run as administrator”.

Nope – if you put # at the start of the line, it turns it into a comment and it doesn’t have any effect.
