Subject: To Elvis Reiu Apollo 11 VR

So I saw Elvis’ name back in the August chat, no idea if it’s the real BC or if reading back a bit further would have revealed someone is having a laugh, but just in case it is the real deal:

Have you had a chance to try any of the new virtual realityheadsets? There is a mini documentary available (about 40 minutes long) called The Apollo 11 Experience. It’s truly amazing. You get to sit in Armstrong’s seat through the launch, looking out a tiny window as the Earth falls away beneath you; you get to watch various manoeuvres in Earth orbit and en-route, stand in Armstrong’s spot during the lunar module landing, watch him taking that one small step off the landing gear bowl shaped thingy, watch him and Buzz bouncing around the moon surface, watch as “number one on the runway” takes off from the lunar surface, Earth atmosphere re-entry from outside and inside the capsule, and a whole lot of other stuff in between.

Often while I re-watch it I think of you. To put it indelicately, I’m 100% sure you would lose your absolute shit if you got to sit through it. The first time for me was a spiritual experience. I was literally crying by the end of it.

Any way, if you haven’t tried it yet I absolutely recommend you do whatever it takes to do so. Knowing what I do about you, I think it really would be one if the great moments in your life, as it was for me.
