There’s a UK version of Life on Mars?

Must check the TV guide

Also, Midsomer Murders

Any Agatha Christie but not that last Miss Marple series where I believe they put her in a plot where, in the book, she never was…

Can’t stand the US “comedy”, or much of their crime time, either…

Anybody watched Cranston Village?

Not much American comedy appeals to me either these days. Mostly prefer UK humour….and the pick of the bunch? Fawlty Towers!!!

Don’t know Cranston Village but I am enjoying Cranford.

The original life on Mars starred John Sim (the Master in new Dr Who) and Phillip Glenister as Gene. Surprisingly it translated quite well to Yanky land

So.. no one else watches The Bill?? Did you all stop when it ventured into soap opera territory?

I’ve stopped watching The Bill and some UK crime time shows as they too closely resemble the US models…

The US just doesn’t do English very well, y’know?

At school we were made to read Cranford for our English Lit exam. I found it boring and tedious and never finished it. Not watching it on TV for that reason, but I’ll bet it’s MUCH better than the book!

the UK version is the original version, but for some reason the yanks had to have their own! Same script basically, except with yankie actors and set in yankieland. Probably couldn’t understand the accent or recognise the place names!!

You might have to download it.

I’m gonna have to add mine too……a year or so ago they had Saturday Kitchen on, during winter for two hours in the arvo.
All different cooking shows rolled into one.
I have fond memories of sitting in my recliner in front of a blazing fire, while it was cold and stormy outside.
Was so sad when it was canned….I’ve since bought a stack of cooking dvd’s to make up for it.

But I also ahould add my current favorites…

Two and a half men
Cook & the Chef
Trial & Retribution
GA
Mecurio’s Menu
Antiques Roadshow

Gotta admit…I do love me tele, so will watch anything except sport.

Gardening shows always catch my eye but I am often bored by them.. it takes something really interesting.. ie something I don’t already know. to make me stay and awtch.. i haven’t got a lot of time for TV. It is too addictive. I have usually got more important things to do.. Even in the dark.

Dr Who?

Different matter.., watched every episode from the very beginning in their correct chronological order.

Grand Designs

I’m sure I’ll think of a few more too.

I suppose I should fall into line and mention my faves. Crime shows are what I like most and I do watch the American ones but much prefer the British shows. As a matter of fact I like almost all British shows but there aren’t many on now. Cracker, I loved. Good News Week I watch in case Paul McD sings. Man he has a good voice. Cooking shows I’m addicted to. If I get access to Foxtel that’s all I watch. Just the food channel. Docos by almost anybody on any subject. I don’t watch the news but I try to catch the weather reports. I don’t know why anymore because I don’t believe much of what they say.

Guerilla Gardeners is on Channel 10, 8pm tonight (same time as New Inventors)

3 shows on the same time. what to watch.

Yeah …….doesn’t it suck…one day there’s nothing …..the next so many good choices…it’s frustration

I’m not the slightest bit interested in guerilla gardeners. They’re just cashing in on the real groups and i bet it turns into a show like those silly backyard makeover shows.

How can you tell when it hasn’t even started yet? Although being on channel 10 isn’t a great sign…

I watched it last night and it’s so so. Very “staged” but they may be doing it without proper permission. I’ll make a decision next week.

I’m Psychic.

Maybe it’s a copy cat thing but they are brightening up dull bits of ground. I just hope someone keeps their good work watered and weeded after the fact.

thanks – i missed it (guerilla gardening) and suspected it would be commercial goody goody stuff.

much of the tv is eye candy – so the cops are the most beautiful babes ever seen or the males are deliberately chosen to give the show a female fan club. ah well what’s new?
i reckon the stars of the ‘bold and beautiful’ get yearly facelifts – the stars haven’t changed and its been going 30 years.

throws in ten votes for Time Team. Tony Robinson has warmed my heart for years.. decades.

one of his funniest lines other than as Baldrick.. was in the Jabberwocky.. where he said “Um Richmond”.. potent pause.. “that must be all of two miles”.. another poignant pause.. “gee I’d love to travel”

good investigative TV docco’s and dramatisations

Yes crime shows particularly forensic types was a great fan of Silent Witness.

I like the new series of Silent Witness better than the first ones with the Irish doctor. Stupid woman just never learnt not to go wandering down dark alleys at night by herself. LOL

House is too much the same each week…… said to Bimbo when she was in hospital….get House to have a look, you’ll nearly die 3 times have 6 wrong diagnosis and in an hour you’d be cured:D

That’s one thing about growing up in a family with doctors… they can’t stand to watch medical TV shows as it’s all complete rubbish.

OH’s dad is a haematologist, and he used to like watching McCallum as all the blood related forensics was always spot on.

McCallum was always good yes.

I do enjoy the way some actors work and though Peter Davison was verging on the point of ridiculous as Doctor Who he has matured quite well as an actor.
There are a couple of progs with him as leading actor running currently.

The good thing about watching these shows at least once, is you know what you’re not missing out on…

Last night’s successful diagnosis was the result of House’s plumber re-arranging his balls inside his jeans…

Just to show shallow I can be………….. I won’t watch an actor who can’t take the time to shave be for he goes to work. LOL.

Now that’s a well educated conclusion for a Dr to come to. LOL.

Mr BG’s not a doctor but has worked in the medical industry just about his whole working life and is the same. Will criticise shows that have not done their research, but loves it when they get it right!

Same if there are motorbikes in the shows. Sometimes the mark of bike changes along the way, depending on whether it is about to do a stunt or not!!!

Have no fear Pepe. Beards I can handle. It’s stubble that gets my gander up. And if your on the receiving end of a pasho, with a stubbleised (my new word) male then it bluddy hurts.
