This large leaved plant has appeared in my vegie patch, not much else is growing as most things were fried by the recent heat.
To give an idea how big the leaves are the plant next to it in the first pic is the common herb Sage.

Many thanks for any ideas

Thanks
Sure seems this is it.
Is it good for anything?
Must have been dropped by a bird?
Shame I thought I had a new exciting plant.
Oh well

Useful in rainforest reafforestation as a species providing shade to young rainforest plants until they get zested, up and running, Then it’s hacked/chopped back and let lay where it falls to act as mulch. Least that’s been my experience of working with it, many years ago.

My experience with it is that it self seeds like crazy. I had a 2 year war with it. Just don’t ever let it reach seed stage.

I think the chopping the top off bit was a proven way of killing it. I understand that it was loped while it was raining which it couldn’t take. Died, very dead after that.
