Subject: App Feedback

Hi all :)

I’ve been trying my hand at app development for Android and have come up with a silly little game. If anyone’s about to have a look and critique it for me, I’d be happy to have any feedback! :)

I have had the request for “social gaming”, where players can see other players’ high scores, but at the moment this isn’t an option with what I’ve used to create the app.

So if anyone is able, the link is here – https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.thunkable.android.appdev.TouchBall

Cheers & beers! :)

Took three attempts to download, kept wanting to verify my identity, take a password, and add a credit card. But that’s normal for Google Play.

Game itself ended up stabbing the screen. Not good for my arthritis.

I prefer games requiring less speed. Let’s see what miss m thinks, she sometimes plays games like this.

“Game itself ended up stabbing the screen.”

What do you mean by this?

I just mean Hitting the screen too hard with my finger. I generally go for games that require swiping to move things around.

Miss m likes it. She got a score of 102 on the third attempt. Took a couple of minutes to get the hang of it she said, but after that it was a nice challenge.

I prefer real world real time scenarios.
Australian Federal Police yelling at me through a loud hailer and me yelling back “come and get me filthy coppers”
That sort of thing.

Thanks. (I haven’t tried it. This is a Win 10 machine.)

Are you the same person as wookiemeister then? His favourite game is to play with police helicopter spotters in order to get them to call the squad cars on him.

Hi JTQ

I just downloaded it and played about 6 games. I don’t usually play games on my phone, but the game was enjoyable. It starts to ramp up speed quickly and the smiley face shrinks quickly. I imagine people who play these games would like the ‘action’ to start happening quickly.

I did notice that the bomb that took me out on every occasion came in up on the top left of the screen and appeared almost perfectly timed with the smily face dropping from the top left. This gave a non-trained luddite like me very little opportunity to click on the smily face even when my score was in the thirties.

I noticed when the smiley was clicked on correctly, the bomb disappeared too and on the first couple of games it actually looked like a bug because the bomb had only appeared on the screen a split second, but later observed it wasn’t a bug. Maybe let the bomb continue across the screen to naturally disappear on the right might be an idea so the screen looks more natural.

I noticed that I got a few quick points because the smiley faces came down in close enough to the same location three or four drops in a row on occasions.. Having fat fingers and just repeatedly tapping had me gaining points without trying because the next smiley fall was so close to the last. It may have been random but it happened enough times for me to think there might have been a bit of a pattern.

Other than that, the app downloaded and installed quickly, loaded quickly and uninstalled efficiently.

I’m sure someone who plays those style of games would enjoy it. Nice effort.
