Talking to a few friends down the Pub the other night about the Vote .
It struck me most people are confusing the Question

We are not voting on should same sex couples get married
We are voting on should they be allowed to.

Seems the No side think they are the same Q

Well if you don’t think they should that sounds like a distinction without a difference.

True enough Thomo.

But unfortunately you tend to find that most people who think same sex couples shouldn’t get married are also willing to tell them: “You shouldn’t be allowed to.”

I don’t see how any question in the public arena is treated any differently.

Instead of a Yes/No question, why not have the parliament pass legislation to abolish marriage. Solve all this nonsense.

All the fun times starring and looking at the opposite sex in ancient forests and tall grass plains are gone. No one knew of the word marriage, its meaning or the complications of law and marriage and getting then getting divorced. Those days are gone. People were nude in those days, those days are gone.

It is not a vote, it is a survey.

I don’t agree.

It is possible to think that same sex couples should not marry, yet at the same time think they should be allowed to marry. It is a major difference.

cf I don’t think people should be anti-vax, but I think they should be allowed to be. I don’t think it should be illegal: that’s not what, in my view, the law is for.

Someone who votes against peoples rights is not to be trusted.
