Trouble is Rough after I have been to the other forums and had to click the button for them—have to come back and remember to click the chat again here—always worked b4 without having to do that ? It is the same for all of you now ?

This is probably something to do with quitting or not quitting browser.. see if you have your browser set to clear personal info at quit.. or something like that.

it’s something to do with new security settings in Vista. Helps protect you from malicious sites, but a pain when it is a friendly.

No. this is something that has been discussed on the Tech Forum in the past and that is what they said the problem was.

OK.. I’m not arguing that Vista may be a cause or not..

It is just that I run OS X not Vista. ;)

OK I just did an experiment. I opened the forum thread on a new page.. because I haven’t clicked the chat icon. Worked with that page showing all my thread clicks on that same page.
I left it sit for a bit while looking at other pages. Came back and idly clicked on another thread and.. it opened in another new page.

It can’t be Vista as I’m not running in Vista.

It could be Firefox but not everyone uses that.. It is more likely site coding.

my understanding is that it was not just Vista, but that other OS did it too. Grassy would be experiencing it now as she has just upgraded from an older version of Windows to Vista, which incorporates this security “feature”. Apparently Microsoft incorporated it later than other systems.

Hi Blue—yes it is a real pest—so many moves you have to go through to see a post or a thread :(

I know. That is one of the reasons I don’t use the hyperforums. If I want to visit one of the ABC forums I give it its own tab or window and if I view a link I always open it in a new window. That way the integrity of each forum is kept.

Generally speaking.. I allow one window.. and place it on the page so that I can still use Uncle Chris’s to observe the ABC threads and read what pops up on the one extra page each time I click on the gardening forum threads, on Uncle Chris’s page.

I have another page for science tech and scribbly where if I click on uncle Chris’s threads for those they will all open on that page.. post by post..

That above allows me to view and use four forums in three pages and all I need to do is perhaps flick between two of them.

In Firefox if I click on the chat icon the result is that it all refreshes so often that it is difficult to read.

Which is why I prefer separate pages or tabs.
