Any thoughts on genetic laws?

I was thinking some standards concerning genetic modification where there could exist categories, genetc modifications for medical purposes, for physical appearance, for muscles, for skin, for organs, for the brain, for bones etc, then each category broken down again for subcategories, like medical, virus prevention, bacteria infection protection, repairing dna, repairing chromosomes etc.

Any thoughts?

For example, genetic modification to make people imune to snake bites.

Genetic modification for imunity to red back spider bites.

Personal choice I imagine, people should be allowed to genetically modify themselves but its not passed down the germ line

It may be that humans need to be genetically modified to live in space or on another planet/moon, seems space travel is not kind to the human body

Among humans, about five percent of live-born offspring have a genetic disorder, and of these, about 20% are due to newly arisen germline mutations.

This is interesting so I wonder if its possible to harvest sperm/eggs and correct genetic damage and then fertilise

Personal opinion is no laws but the ethics of each needs to be examined on a case by case basis – does the change improve quality of life?

Excellent point, I’d forgotten that.

Eg genetic improvement to make frozen embryos survive longer. Or to allow digestion of dextro foods.
