He’s done a hugh amount of work with the indigenous people and the homeless but because he openly accepts gays and performs commitment services for them and allows women to preach he’s been fired by the RC church. If he was a pedophile he’d still have a job.
His congregation is refusing to give him up and wont hand over the church keys or accept a new preist.

Someone’s probably already covered this but Veg didn’t link the two facts. Perhaps he dislikes Jerry for another reason.

Anyway, I think the priest in your story is to be commended, as are his loyal followers. I am under the impression that true Christianity is all about tolerance, and that those who claim that the bible says gays are not acceptable are clinging for grim death onto an old and outdated section of the old testament that is not included in the new testament…

Ok, so you meant what I thought you meant after all. Who knows what rumours do the rounds in other states, there may well have been some. Probably started because from memory his lady has an androgynous name (Lee or something?) and he always referred to her as his ‘partner’. I recall wondering the same a number of years ago when reading his articles until the word ‘she’ popped up.
I had a tendency to refer to my ex as my partner, probably something I’ve picked up from gay friends, and because it sounded really silly calling someone my ‘boyfriend’ when we’d been living together for years and were in our 30’s!
