We have rain:)

Oh the smell of the rain as it falls…… like a fresh morning……
We have rain:)
——————————————————-
You are Lucky Lucky :)
All our lovely rain came & went all in one day.
The warmer days are about to hit us agian : (
Rain is gone now….. enough to make me bring Bimbo’s washing in and hang in the house……. think a band of seagulls went over the homestead and let one go……
Hell you call THAT rain—do hope that you get more soon though
we got very little more than a few spits yesterday, didn’t even register on my gauge as it was less than 1mm.
2 mm of rain from yesterday and a shower last night:)
we have just gone past the 100mm for the year…. still very dry.

we should be up around the 300-400mms for this time of year. I hope the wet comes soon. Outside at the moment there’s big dark clouds coming off the Owen Stanleys, but it all comes to nought down here in the Harbour.

wet season should be well upon us, but what started as a cracker during the first week of November, well it has sorta fizzled out to nothing now. Mind you March and April was pretty wet last year.

yes, but last year by end of Feb we had 47mm, in 2006 it was 151mm, 2005 it was 224mm. I think you can see the trend.
But this year we have entered a La Nina period so we may be seeing more..

HI Collie:)
I can’t work that out…. what happened to the cyclone over your way??? Once we used to get a deep depression out of them and rain down our way.

a trend set over three years? We best let Tim Flannery know…. only joking joyce.
I hope your water comes one day soon.

That wasn’t a big cyclone. It only made it to Cat3, and fizzled soon after.
A big Cat5 cyclone will get rain your way…

Oh well I don’t want to big one….. it’ll hurt too many people for me to get rain.
Big cyclones cause mainly economic damage these days. The big oil/gas projects lose about a week’s production and the mines can be affected (they are generally a hundred or more km inland) in they cop a direct hit.
But the Met services, warnings and procedures for those living up there are very very well oiled…
I was in Onslow when Cat 5 cyclone Bobby hit there directly.. If you are in a strong shelter and can wait it out it’s not that bad..

It has just this minute started to rain here again. We have had a couple of dry and very hot days so the rain is welcome. I wish you could all get the amount you need.

not a puddle in sight here – the ground was thirsty – and the clay had cracks – must go and see if the cracks have closed.
morning HP and all

it gets slippery on the surface here.
the previous rain hadn’t soaked in far but this lot was steady enough to start soaking in i reckon.
the garden is looking a tad weedy.

No it isn’t. I want some. LOL.
It’s here, now. I just checked on it because it sounds so soft and gentle I thought it may have been sleet – expecting snow overnight and tomorrow morning on the “higher ground” — we’re not the highest around here, but pretty close, so here’s hoping. The kids were locating gloves earlier, just in case.
