Where are they from, Lucky?

Soft veg can indicate freezing or too cold in storage, followed by a temp drop, which affects the structure of the fruit…

Or…

Would they have been watered too much when growing, at some stage?

Or…

Would they have been allowed to get too hot in storage?

I always assume they are old ones that have been in storage a long time.

some of mine were sunburnt – that makes them soft – and rotten.

I’ll keep some seeds for you then, if you want. Plenty more packets of them too in the shop I went to. I’ll be going there again soon-ish because they have some fab 18/10 s/steel pots of a particular size I need.

Now that is a nifty onion. Enlongated onions would be such a good idea for slicing. With normal round onions you have to cut it in half then slice if you value your fingers.

Yes, would look great in salads , and one wouldn’t have to wrestle long slices of dripping onion into their gobs.
But.. I need to find out if I treat them like ‘normal’ onions and therefore have to plant them out at a certain time, or treat them like spring onions that you can chuck in any time of the year.
