Mrs V’s car’s airbag got replaced on the first recall by Toyota some years ago. Then there was a second recall a couple of years back, and it got replaced again then. Mrs V was the first person to book in at the dealer, and even they didn’t know there was a recall notice out there…

I was reading a several month old motoring article just yesterday that some people weren’t getting them replaced despite recall notices because “they don’t have crashes”.

Some do. Mostly large top-end tourers.

You may know them by another name – ejection seats.

Had an airbag recall for Honda Jazz. They pestered us for over a year until we finally got it fixed for free.

It wasn’t the main problem with the car, which had a flat tyre and no rear window. Passenger airbag wasn’t a high priority.
