The number of people with a yoga injury serious enough to send them to their local emergency department has increased by almost 80 per cent in just seven years.

I follow the renowned Guru Swami Sitonyabum. My favourite yoga position? Recline position on couch, put feet up and hold this position for 3 – 4 hours. Then relax (or go for a wee) and repeat.

What’s your favourite yoga position?

When I learnt yoga, I was taught to not force the asana. Any pain was too much pain.

That sounds very dangerous. Unless you having regular drinks you are going to become severely dehydrated.

Tae-kwon-do used to teach us a kind of yoga for the warm-up and preparation.

Stretching, breathing, being aware of and focusing what you were doing and feeling, not pushing it too hard, but pushing it a tiny bit so as to build on that next time.

Oh dear….. Do you think that I, too, would end up in the emergency department in hospital?

Irregular ones are better than nothing.

Because more yoga has increased in popularity?

Coincidentally, I have a friend with a yoga studio near you, Woodie. Technically she’s closer to Steve but he’s not here anymore 😊

Apparently not, Aunty Arts. “Dr Sekendiz said the enormous increase in yoga injuries could not be explained by a rise in participation rates, which were only 5.5 per cent in the same period.”

What’s your favourite yoga position?

Only pranayama (breathing techniques) here.

I don’t have the joint flexibility for anything else.

This afternoon I walked into a conversation that was about naked yoga :o

The images that went through my mind are unfortunately still there.

Downward Dog will never be the same again!

Then I can highly recommend Guru Swami Sitonyabum’s practices.

I’d be mightily surprised if you did! If you’re thinking of expanding your yoga practices, I’m sure she’d welcome you. You two can compare notes on how fabulous I am.
