I think they are looking for Science writers not Science Fiction writers.

Submissions are welcome from science writers, scientists who write, publishers, agents or anyone else with a passion for writing about science, and could cover roles such as panel speakers, chairs, mentors, assessors or workshop leaders—other ideas are also encouraged!

The title of this recent “real” science paper caught my eye.
