Phased array feed imaging system broadens vision for radio astronomy

Phased array imaging was, if I remember correctly, one of the most successful spin-offs of military technology into civilian science. (Hubble was another such spin-off). Phased array imaging is planned to be a vital part of the Square Kilometer Array.
