Right if this works, these are my latest chicks, 10 white silkies and about 14 4B’s (Bolstad Bunch Backyard Bruisers, we’ve been woking on these for about 5 years). They are eating our spare zuchinni all chopped up.

Hi Turkeymum,

This forum doesn’t support bbcode (, etc.) formatting (except for quotes).

You can post images using either Textile mark-up:

Hmm…I need to add a preview feature to the forum. It worked alright on the Textile preview site. Let me fix that…

there’s a few chicks there ! do you sell them ?

once you have uploaded to pbucket (poster size) – tick the box below the album photo and scroll to the bottom and click ‘generate html and img codes’.
that automatically generates clickable thumbnails – just copy and paste here

I guess i will try photo bucket. I am learning as i go. And yes i sell them, i sell fat happy backyard laying chooks, andi sell silkies, both pet quality and i am hoping my investments in good bloodlines pays off, something worth showing. When i have enough i also sell Langshans, turkeys, geese ad ducks.
I don’t make any real money off them, just enough to buy some bulk chook food every now and again. But its a lovely hobby and along with the garden keeps me sane.

I am in Yumali, near Coonalpyn in S.A.
And to answer another person, yes i am getting big fat purple eggplant, YUM, the best fertiliser i EVER came across is cleaning the Duck/Goose pond out once a month (it is about 2 1/2 × 2 meters) and i pump it into the garden. It was much greener, but we got up to 51.9 here and i had a fair bit of sun damage. But 6 inches of hay mulch and layered companion planting helped save most of the garden, I’ll pop in some photo’s of my veg’ if i think of it when picking it.

Looks pretty dry outside the garden. I take it your water is from a tank, or a river or a canal?

All our garden water comes from a grey water re-cycle system that hubby organised. I’d have a bigger garden but this is all i can water regularly. And thats also why the layered companion planting and mulch, so i can get the most bang for my drip. All bath water, all washing water and all dish water, gets put on the garden.
Jobs i need to do now, pull out the sweet corn stems/poles? work out if it is worth re-planting the turnip ( i can’t direct seed this garden, don’t know why, but i have to pot up all plants then when at the 2 – 4 leaf stage i can transplant to the garden. sigh I don’t know if it is worth putting in turnip or parsnip now, any ideas out there, I’ve got cauli’s, brocolli, 2 x eggplant, rockmellon, 2 x Cucumber, lettuce, silverbeet, cellery. rhubarb, butternut, squash, tomatoes X 3, zuchinni, sad sack butterbeans, detroit beetroot, capcicims, wongboc, and thats about it, any ideas out there, something bomb proof and O.K for april planting?

—————————
brussel sprouts, carrots, broad beans (try them direct seed – very big seed) and spinach (different to silver beet). rocket is bomb proof and other lettuces (raddichio).
of the herbs – dill and parsley are self sowing now and that usually indicates its planting time.
