Subject: Schizophrenia as whole-body disorder

A study from researchers at King’s College London is suggesting that schizophrenia is not just a disorder of the mind but is also associated with defined physiological changes across the whole body. The study hypothesizes that these physical symptoms are not secondary effects of the illness but, in fact, indications that schizophrenia is a whole-body disorder.

A long link, but it works. I found it to be a thought provoking article.

Every mental emotion has an associated phyical action or inaction.

For example the physiological actions associated with fear are well known.

The consequence is that the body mirrors the mind and vice versa.

Let me be devil’s advocate here for a moment.

Prove to me that there is such a thing as schizophrenia.

The study was on psychosis, first episode psychosis. Not specifically schizophrenia, although related, FEP includes other forms of nuttiness.

Might read this in the morning. Only made it to the end of the 2nd paragraph. Not a good thing to sleep on.

If you could relate your replies to the article it would be helpful.

Seriously, if anyone even once more promulgates the lie about me not reading acticles, then I will find them and shove a glop skinners’ glove so far down their throats that they will have to talk out of their bottom.

What I said, if you had bothered to read it, is a consistent exlanation for all the disparate discoveries reported in the article.

Now apologise. Please.

Moll, it is obvious that whatever is posted (at least from me) your reply is half cocked. Although being related to the subject, it is not about the subject of the article and obviously you don’t get it, or haven’t read it.

Stress is known to be a whole-body disorder. In fact that’s how it is defined, it causes reduced lifespan in experimental animals. All the bodily symptoms identified as associated with schizophrenia and psychosis could be related to stress.

Here is how schizophrenia relates to stress.
