Self sown yes.
They have that bell shaped flower that isn’t that easy to pollinate until…
Enter the bumblebee. -> 100% pollination.
Yes. It is poisonous and nothing eats it. They eat everything else. Right down the moss.
This time of year they are pretty easy to pull and whenever I go out I pull some. But not a few acres worth. Last pic demonstrates that there are lots more waiting for me to pull a large one to give them space..

Foxglove
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digitalis
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digitalis#Medicinal_uses
“It is used to increase cardiac contractility (it is a positive inotrope) and as an antiarrhythmic agent to control the heart rate, particularly in the irregular (and often fast) atrial fibrillation. Digitalis is hence often prescribed for patients in atrial fibrillation, especially if they have been diagnosed with congestive heart failure. Ultimately, digitalis increases cardiac output (Cardiac Output=Stroke Volume x Heart Rate). Digoxin was approved for heart failure in 1998. A group of pharmacologically active compounds are extracted mostly from the leaves of the second year’s growth”
I didn’t know that there was any medication that worked with atrial fibrillation. Pacemakers do NOT work with atrial fibrillation except in the sense of monitoring how bad it is getting. Atrial fibrillation is a huge health problem in Australia. That’s great news. Use your foxgloves to make some and store it.
“An overdose of digitalis and causes nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. Mortality is rare”.
So what, an overdose of just about any herb does that. The advantage of that is that it gives plenty of warning at concentrations well below those at which it is really dangerous.
“Drying does not reduce the toxicity of the plant.”
Good.
“The plant is toxic to animals, including all classes of livestock and poultry, as well as felines and canines”
Oh good. A natural insect repellant. Livestock would have to be pretty stupid, or starving, to eat it to the point of mortality.
