I’ve been forced to be a morning person since Mini Me came along.

Was gunna say, it depends on what gets one up early.

“Mortality risk in evening types may be due to behavioural, psychological and physiological risk factors, many of which may be attributable to chronic misalignment between internal physiological timing and externally imposed timing of work and social activities. These findings suggest the need for researching possible interventions aimed at either modifying circadian rhythms in individuals or at allowing evening types greater working hour flexibility.”

Maybe having a chronic disease, or an unhealthy lifestyle, makes you more likely to be an “evening type”, rather than vice versa.

Or maybe it’s a bit of both.

Could there be another factor here? Like the corellation between alcohol consumption and hangovers?

All things must end. As I told myself last night at the community meeting when there was emphasis on the refugees being “devout Christians”. I understand why they include that in the spiel, this area is Lutheran and Catholic and many of them are having a lot of trouble coping with having a Sikh couple here. But then when the presenters a number of times mentioned lines like “we are so blessed”, I thought….oh dear, I’ll bet there is some sort of Christian background to this mob. I checked online this morning and if it is there, it’s not obvious. Perhaps I’m just a bit sensitive. But I hope when they said they vet the people to come out to the country areas that did not mean Muslims or others are automatically put off the list. I have much sympathy for the families moving here. They are from very troubled areas of Africa. They have lived in Australia a minimum of 5 years and they want to get out into the country areas because they were country people originally. And it will be very good for this area to feel a bit of diversity 150 years after the Europeans arrived. It’s been a long time coming.

I sleep good, can get anything from 1-5hours sleep between after lunch (though tends to be evening) and midnight.

i’m an early to bed person really, like if am in deficit can go to bed at 6:00pm, then rise at 8:00am, then as into surplus will either to bed later or/and up earlier, depends a bit on season.

generally I wake about 8:00am at moment, warmer months it can be a lot earlier, though avoiding heat etc for stock rounds sends me into the late of evening, or often after midnight, when the sheep have stopped drinking(I do meter reads then, good chance sheep not drinking, flows should come back to ~zero, if no leaks). Fire danger from driving around out there is less. It’s generally more pleasant too.

I do two substantial sleeps, though have been know to do many all-nighters working on stuff, and still can get up before the lady does. Like I can go to bed when the morn sky is starting to pink, sleep and then be up before her.

I often sleep twice, sometimes three times in any day/24hr period.

so’s a good chance i’ll post an update in this thread when i’m ninety+.

I’m the opposite, always been a nightowl (even as a kid), hate having jobs that need an early start, so I mostly go for ones that are evening/night shift, suits me fine

Interestingly, I had a job for 4 years that required a 5am start, I put on 20kg during that time, and lost 15 of them within a year of starting an evening job again… so for me, earlier starts seem to be less healthy
