Subject: Thai cave rescue: Elon Musk's SpaceX sends over a mini submarine
>>The robust submarine is built to accommodate a kid or small adult and features the liquid oxygen transfer tube of the Falcon 9 rocket as its hull. It weighs 40 kg (88 lb) when dry, so is light enough for divers to carry across dry sections of the caves. It has a diameter of 31 cm (12.2 in) and, according to Musk, is built to be pushed and pulled through the tightest parts of the system.
The submarine was constructed over around eight hours and has been put through testing in an LA pool with a person inside, including maneuvering through obstacles that replicate the cave’s narrowest passages. It is now being flown to northern Thailand. <<

Apparently the sub is 300 mm diameter and the choke point is 380. So it is just a matter of what the maximum length is, or if it is bendy enough.

So many people to thank apart from God.
If I had a social media account I’d thank Elon for his wonderful work, the media for their 24 hour coverage and all the experts with different views they talked to a lot and of course all the churches and congregations who’s prayers were so crucial.
And last but certainly not least are the men and women of Elon Musk’s team in California who managed to get all that equipment half way round the world at a moments notice.

.7m wide
it would have be smaller than .7m
It was 300mm wide.
It was narrow enough but could it get around the kinks or not get snagged on the “razor sharp” rocks?

It requires divers to lead the boys down a narrow tunnel, at points only .7m wide, then up to above the water level, then down another tunnel once again into a deep pool.

Divers must dismount scuba tanks to continue.
Doesn’t sound like a sub would fit to me at least in that narrow part
so maybe some of way back from that point or wider points ?
so is only half useful .

To be unfair, philanthropy causes governments to stop funding things that are in the common interest/good and allows vested interests to push their barrows where needed/wanted or else they’ll go fund something over there instead…

USA has a long history of significant private philanthropy. Australia has a history of government-funded socialist-style common-good funding. The Australian model is slowly waning here, unfortunately.

Elton Musk “apologises” to Thai cave diver for Twitter attack
Tech con-man Elvis Musk has apologised to a British cave diver he called “pedo guy” in a row over the cave rescue in northern Thailand.
He said he had “spoken in anger” after Vern Unsworth ridiculed a mini-submarine he had commissioned for the rescue effort as a “PR stunt”.
