This afternoon, Mini Me’s school celebrated its 50th anniversary. As part of the exhibit, a book listing corporal punishment was on display. Obviously they redacted children’s names. One poor kid got 21 canings to the back for “gross misconduct”.

This was in 1982.

I got 7 in 1977 for the kid next to me throwing a rock at a magpie.

But he was the prefect and I was the ratbag so of course it had to be me.

When we ended up at the principals office he cried and claimed that it wasn’t him.

I was dragged in and questioned. When I told the truth of what had happened, I got the cane 6 times for throwing the rock, and 1 for lying about it.

Ask me why I had problems with authority figures. Any guesses?
